Rebel's TLC's

Weather you are looking for a new way to store your leftovers and are tired of buying tuppaware, or you just want to be a REBEL, TLC's are for you! They are convenient covers for your bowl, bread pan, casserole dish, yogurt, or even a can of fruit!

They are made from 100% 100% cotton woven fabric and waterproof food-safe nylon! TLC's are lined with an FDA-approved food-safe polyurethane coated ripstop nylon which is water, mildew, abrasion, and rot resistant. It is free of heavy metals, phythalates, PBBs and PBDEs. The coated side of the nylon faces away from the food. If you are wondering, like I did, TLC stands for tops, lids, and covers! Rebels doesn't only make the TLC's they also make snack bags, bag holders, and dryer satchels!
You can see in this picture that my daughter is using the little snack bag! We love this and have been using it since the day we got it. My little lady loves this bag! She carries it around with her wherever we are! I love that I don't have to use Ziploc bags on road trips. I can just use this over and over again!!

Everybody knows if you make spaghetti or any other kind of pasta you have to keep it well covered so it does not harden. I used this cover to cover my personal bowl after I finished eating. The next afternoon when I got it out to warm up and eat, it was just as if I had it covered with tinfoil! (If you can tell that is also an odd shaped bowl and it still stayed sealed great)

I wanted to show you a picture of their bag holder! It held so many bags!! I love that I can just put them in here instead of a cabinet full under the sink!

SweetPeas Cloth and Happy Heinys

I would like you guys to check out my friend over at SweetPeas Cloth! You can find her on Facebook or HERE!! She is the one sponsoring this review and giveaway.

She sent me a OS Happy Heinys that was the Cowhide print! It is one of the cutest prints I have seen!! The customer service at SweetPeas Cloth is great. They are fast to ship and even faster to respond! I got the diaper in 2 short days! I have spoke with the owner a lot lately, and she is so kind. She is someone I would love to shop from! I hope you all will do the same!

Here is just a little bit of information about the Happy Heinys OS Pocket diaper:
Happy Heinys uses their own custom milled fleece and high quality products in our manufacturing of our products. With 4 sizing options, easily accessible on the front of the diaper by using durable snaps, we can offer a precise fit for your baby's growth stages. This will allow the diaper to fit most babies from about 8 lbs - 35 lbs.

We have been using the Happy Heinys diaper for almost a week now and I have a lot of good things to say about it. The first thing I noticed after putting it on her the first time was the fit around the legs. There was NO gaping. I watched her crawl and walk around the room and didn’t see it gap once. This is a huge plus, since it assures there will rarely be a blowout.

The second thing I noticed about the Happy Heinys was that around the legs there was their milled fleece over the PUL on the leg. I love this because as it is against her legs while playing it wont rub her red.

My little lady wore the diaper for 1.5 hours the first time and there were no leaks and it held up well. The next time she wore it I decided to let it get to its max, she wore it for 3 hours with one insert before it HAD to be changed! So this diaper is good for outings like the grocery store or the park (especially since it is super cute)! Happy Heinys suggest that you use either a night-time diaper or you will need to add more stuffing to your pocket diaper. “A very important thing to remember is that your diaper is only as good as it’s stuffing. If you only use one insert and your child is a heavy wetter, you may need to either change more often or add additional stuffing.” Says Happy Heinys

The only con I could find was that it can not be used as a night-time diaper for my heavy wetter. But then who would want to use this one at night-time, It is to cute not to where to the grocery store to show off. ;)

Do you want one of these diapers? (Cowhide print)Here is how to win!!

Cloth = best choice I ever made!

When you first mention to a friend or family member that you are thinking of switching to cloth, they come back at you with remarks like, “Ew, why would you do that”, “That’s gross”, and “That is way to much work”.

I’m going to tell you why that is wrong, and I am going to give you some reasons why cloth is the way to go!

1. Disposable diapers contain traces of Dioxin, an extremely toxic by-product of the paper-bleaching process. It is a carcinogenic chemical, that the FDA has listed as most toxic of all cancer-linked chemicals

2. Disposable diapers contain Tributyl-tin which is a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals.

3. The CPA (Consumer Protection Agency) has had reports regarding disposable diapers include chemical burns, noxious chemical and insecticide odors, babies pulling disposables apart and putting pieces of plastic into their noses and mouths and choking on them, plastic melting onto the skin, and ink staining the skin.

4. With modern fabrics and washing machines, even if you decide to wash out diapers before putting them in the diaper pail, you can use a convenient diaper sprayer or pail system to do this without a huge mess.

5. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that an estimated 8,469 incidents involving diapers occurred in the year 2000 alone. While the majority of these were limited to allergic reactions and severe diaper rashes, several hundred were attributed to choking, burns and other risks associated with disposable diapers.

6. Cloth diapers can be held onto and reused by your next baby. Usually a cloth diaper will last through use and washing for at least two kids, sometimes more. You have your next baby and you already own and have paid for their diapers. That adds up to a huge savings and makes for a great investment!

7. Used cloth diapers hold their value and can resell at a great price.

8. According to the Clean Air Council, in the United States alone, 570 diapers are thrown in the garbage per second. That comes to 49 million disposable diapers that are added to landfills every day. In contrast, a high-quality cloth diaper can be laundered and reused a minimum of 100 times, thereby significantly reducing the energy burden that goes into diaper production as well as reducing waste.

9. Most cloth diapers are made and sold by work at home moms. Even many of the larger cloth diaper companies, like Nifty Nappy, Cotton Babies, and the maker of Fuzzibunz! So you can support the WAHM’s!

10. The BEST reason is that it is safer, environment friendly, more comfy, and WAY cuter than disposables!

I truly do not think it is harder to use cloth over disposables, having used them both. There is just on extra step.. Wash them.. I can say I love knowing I do not have to go out and buy diapers every pay day! (Might I add, diapers that are not good for my child's bum) It is a great feeling.

I was able to talk with Vilate, the maker of the Nifty Nappy and she shared with me why she starting using and making cloth diapers. “…but in the end. it is as simple as...I started for the cost! We were poor college kids. But it soon became so much more. I kept doing it because I love the fact that it is better for my baby! “ says Vilate.

FIRST GIVEAWAY!! CLOSED

I'm glad you all have found your way over to our blog!

I am going to start off by doing my own giveaway of Dryer Balls. They are the "As Seen On TV" ones. They are supposed to reduce drying time, soften fabrics, help fabrics come out soft and fluff, reduce static and lint buildup, and cut down on wrinkles!

I used them to dry our cloth diapers. I did two loads approximately the same size. The first load I did was with no dryer balls. It took 50 minutes to dry them!

My second load I did had the dryer balls in it. I was SO excited when they were dry in only 27 minutes! That cuts drying time practically in half!! I also noticed that there was no static electricity as there normally is.

Getting to know the fam

Our little family is located in the ever changing state of Oklahoma. We are a conservative christian family. God comes first in every decision we make, then our little lady. She just turned one in June and is our pride and joy!

We are working on becoming as crunchy (green/eco friendly) as we can. We cloth diaper, use all natural cleaning products, and are currently switching to natural (Oklahoma made) bathing products and not using paper plates or silverware!

We just WON our first bottle of soap from Crimson and Clean Soaps and are planning to buy products from them! They are based in Oklahoma and make everything right at their homestead! You can find them and their products at http://www.crimsoncleansoap.com/!!

Our next task is going to be recycling! I will save that for another post though!

If you make your way over to our Facebook page, Mama's Giveaways, you can find giveaways that are eco-friendly and currently happening! The link is on the right side of the blog.

Hope you all have a great day and a great Labor Day weekend!!
