Scarborough Lane

I have never been so excited to review something until I received my melt warmer and soy wax melts from Scarborough Lane!

Scarborough Lane is the place to go for all things that smell good and make your home smell amazing. They carries soy wax melts, all sorts of bath & body products, vacuum scents, and much more!

I have tried their scents pumpkin cookie crunch, warm sugar cookie, crisp green apple, carmel apple, and pink sugar kisses! They all smell so great! My favorite is the pumpkin cookie crunch. I had it going in the kitchen while I was cooking for Thanksgiving and soon after it melted the whole house smelled of pumpkin!

Scarborough Lane's melts have the perfect amount of fragrance, they are not overwhelming but they will fill up the whole house (or at least my whole house)!! From the moment I turn the warmer on to the moment I can smell it is only a couple of minutes, so if you have company coming over, pop one in your melt warmer and it will have them asking you what kind of melts you use!

I cannot wait to try out more of their great scents! You can purchase some for a GREAT price on their website, click here!

Grandma El's Diaper Rash Remedy & Prevention

Grandma El’s creates a skin softening, protective barrier which prevents wetness and stool enzymes from coming into contact with your baby’s bottom, while allowing the skin to breathe; something no other product offers. Grandma El’s promotes the growth of new skin collagen, which helps the healing process.

Shortly after receiving my Grandma El's Diaper Rash & Prevention, my Little Lady had some redness and I could tell a rash was starting to form. I applied a tiny amount of Grandma El's to her bum and the redness was all cleared up by the next morning! That is some fast acting diaper rash ointment!! I was very pleased with how fast she was back to normal!

I also loved how the cream itself does not smell awful and washes off your hand much easier than other diaper rash creams! Even though it might be a little weird, I actually like the smell! :)

My absolute favorite thing about Grandma El's is that it is cloth diaper safe! You don't have to worry about it harming your diapers! We have had no problem with washing our diapers that have come in contact with the ointment.

Please follow my blog and become a fan of Grandma El's on facebook!

Eco-Scrubby from EarthToGert

When I first saw these Eco-Scrubbies, I wanted to try them. They looked well made and I had a sink that needed to be SCRUBBED! I have been looking for things in the cleaning department that I could reuse!

Earth To Gert sent me an Eco-Scrubby to try out! I took it as soon as I got it and started cleaning! First I washed off my daughters high chair, normally it takes some time to get all the stickiness off from her fruit, but it took me just a minute with this thing!

Second I went to wash my sink! I had not given it a good scrub down in some time. It took so much time to make it shine and we have a busy life! I put a little RubyMoon in one side and let it fill up, then drained. Then scrubbed it with the Eco-Scrubby and in no time it was shinning with a notable difference! I was so pleased!!

Do you see that shine?!? This is a GREAT bang for your buck!

"The eco-scrubby is (handmade in the U.S.A.) is what your cleaning routine has been missing. Scrub pots and pans and sinks and showers and windows and counters and boots and buckets - until your eco-scrubby is dirty. Then just toss it in the washer, let air dry, and it is ready for your next dirty job"

Buying Used Diapers

Many mama's have asked me for my opinion about buying cloth diapers used. I decided to write a blog post dedicated to just that. I am sure lots of cloth diapering mamas ponder the idea and wonder if it is worth saving the few extra bucks.

When you go to buy cloth diapers used from someone you want to take a few factors in to account:
1. You will want to know how they cared for the diapers. Ex: Type of detergent used, how often washed ect..
2. You will want to know if there is any problems with the velcro/aplix or PUL. As most of us who use cloth know, the velcro if not well taken care of can start to fall apart pretty fast. PUL can also have issues with separating and affect the absorbency of the diaper!
3. If you like to show off your diapers (or you think you will want to when you start) you might ask for pictures of the outside to make sure it is not to stained and go ahead and check the inside for bad staining as well!

How they cared for them is the most important part of making that decision. Cloth diapers should be washed with detergent made with no bleach or soaps. For some babies they should not have fragrances as well.

If you purchase them used make sure to strip them before using them, just as you would buying used clothing! There are several methods on how to strip them. The simplest way is to wash them in the hottest water you can with just a little bit of viniger in the first wash then rinse them until you see no suds while it is agitating. *There are several other ways, you can ask me for others or google the ways!

By buying used you are helping reduce your carbon footprint! Always recycle, reduce, and reuse!

HootHootBaby Review

When I received my package from HootHootBaby I was BLOWN away! They are the most adorable diapers I have ever seen. I shared them with everyone on Facebook that day and you all couldn't believe the cuteness factor!!

I have spent a lot of time talking to the maker of these great diapers and I want to tell you a little about some of the things she has to offer you! She does custom diapers for no extra charge! This means, if you need a special fit, have a child with special needs, or just want it made in your 'own' way.. She is your go to person! She also makes unscaled diapers from t shirts! You do get a discount if you provide the outer fabric! For an extra fee you can get extra soakers/liners!

....The diaper I chose to review was the......

Is that not a great package! You get one OS diaper and 3 wipes.

Cutest polka dots around!!

My daughter has worn this several times since I received it. It has became one of my favorite diapers!! On average this diaper lasts about 2 hours with our heavy wetter! We had no leaks or blowouts. I do believe that with these HootHootBaby diapers you wont have blowouts due to the way the legs are made! It is very snug (not tight)! When washing it there has not been any fading or another problems!

The only thing I would change about the diaper is to have extra inserts/soakers.. and GUESS WHAT.. she can do that! :)

These diapers are made with cotton knit, organic bamboo, and organic cotton. They are all homemade in Kansas! You should browse her photos on Facebook and see how awesome her creations are. Your child ready to be potty trained? She has trainers!!!

ENTER BELOW -There is a post for the girl print and one for the boy print, you may enter both.. although you may not win both. Thank you!

Rebel's TLC's

Weather you are looking for a new way to store your leftovers and are tired of buying tuppaware, or you just want to be a REBEL, TLC's are for you! They are convenient covers for your bowl, bread pan, casserole dish, yogurt, or even a can of fruit!

They are made from 100% 100% cotton woven fabric and waterproof food-safe nylon! TLC's are lined with an FDA-approved food-safe polyurethane coated ripstop nylon which is water, mildew, abrasion, and rot resistant. It is free of heavy metals, phythalates, PBBs and PBDEs. The coated side of the nylon faces away from the food. If you are wondering, like I did, TLC stands for tops, lids, and covers! Rebels doesn't only make the TLC's they also make snack bags, bag holders, and dryer satchels!
You can see in this picture that my daughter is using the little snack bag! We love this and have been using it since the day we got it. My little lady loves this bag! She carries it around with her wherever we are! I love that I don't have to use Ziploc bags on road trips. I can just use this over and over again!!

Everybody knows if you make spaghetti or any other kind of pasta you have to keep it well covered so it does not harden. I used this cover to cover my personal bowl after I finished eating. The next afternoon when I got it out to warm up and eat, it was just as if I had it covered with tinfoil! (If you can tell that is also an odd shaped bowl and it still stayed sealed great)

I wanted to show you a picture of their bag holder! It held so many bags!! I love that I can just put them in here instead of a cabinet full under the sink!

SweetPeas Cloth and Happy Heinys

I would like you guys to check out my friend over at SweetPeas Cloth! You can find her on Facebook or HERE!! She is the one sponsoring this review and giveaway.

She sent me a OS Happy Heinys that was the Cowhide print! It is one of the cutest prints I have seen!! The customer service at SweetPeas Cloth is great. They are fast to ship and even faster to respond! I got the diaper in 2 short days! I have spoke with the owner a lot lately, and she is so kind. She is someone I would love to shop from! I hope you all will do the same!

Here is just a little bit of information about the Happy Heinys OS Pocket diaper:
Happy Heinys uses their own custom milled fleece and high quality products in our manufacturing of our products. With 4 sizing options, easily accessible on the front of the diaper by using durable snaps, we can offer a precise fit for your baby's growth stages. This will allow the diaper to fit most babies from about 8 lbs - 35 lbs.

We have been using the Happy Heinys diaper for almost a week now and I have a lot of good things to say about it. The first thing I noticed after putting it on her the first time was the fit around the legs. There was NO gaping. I watched her crawl and walk around the room and didn’t see it gap once. This is a huge plus, since it assures there will rarely be a blowout.

The second thing I noticed about the Happy Heinys was that around the legs there was their milled fleece over the PUL on the leg. I love this because as it is against her legs while playing it wont rub her red.

My little lady wore the diaper for 1.5 hours the first time and there were no leaks and it held up well. The next time she wore it I decided to let it get to its max, she wore it for 3 hours with one insert before it HAD to be changed! So this diaper is good for outings like the grocery store or the park (especially since it is super cute)! Happy Heinys suggest that you use either a night-time diaper or you will need to add more stuffing to your pocket diaper. “A very important thing to remember is that your diaper is only as good as it’s stuffing. If you only use one insert and your child is a heavy wetter, you may need to either change more often or add additional stuffing.” Says Happy Heinys

The only con I could find was that it can not be used as a night-time diaper for my heavy wetter. But then who would want to use this one at night-time, It is to cute not to where to the grocery store to show off. ;)

Do you want one of these diapers? (Cowhide print)Here is how to win!!

Cloth = best choice I ever made!

When you first mention to a friend or family member that you are thinking of switching to cloth, they come back at you with remarks like, “Ew, why would you do that”, “That’s gross”, and “That is way to much work”.

I’m going to tell you why that is wrong, and I am going to give you some reasons why cloth is the way to go!

1. Disposable diapers contain traces of Dioxin, an extremely toxic by-product of the paper-bleaching process. It is a carcinogenic chemical, that the FDA has listed as most toxic of all cancer-linked chemicals

2. Disposable diapers contain Tributyl-tin which is a toxic pollutant known to cause hormonal problems in humans and animals.

3. The CPA (Consumer Protection Agency) has had reports regarding disposable diapers include chemical burns, noxious chemical and insecticide odors, babies pulling disposables apart and putting pieces of plastic into their noses and mouths and choking on them, plastic melting onto the skin, and ink staining the skin.

4. With modern fabrics and washing machines, even if you decide to wash out diapers before putting them in the diaper pail, you can use a convenient diaper sprayer or pail system to do this without a huge mess.

5. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that an estimated 8,469 incidents involving diapers occurred in the year 2000 alone. While the majority of these were limited to allergic reactions and severe diaper rashes, several hundred were attributed to choking, burns and other risks associated with disposable diapers.

6. Cloth diapers can be held onto and reused by your next baby. Usually a cloth diaper will last through use and washing for at least two kids, sometimes more. You have your next baby and you already own and have paid for their diapers. That adds up to a huge savings and makes for a great investment!

7. Used cloth diapers hold their value and can resell at a great price.

8. According to the Clean Air Council, in the United States alone, 570 diapers are thrown in the garbage per second. That comes to 49 million disposable diapers that are added to landfills every day. In contrast, a high-quality cloth diaper can be laundered and reused a minimum of 100 times, thereby significantly reducing the energy burden that goes into diaper production as well as reducing waste.

9. Most cloth diapers are made and sold by work at home moms. Even many of the larger cloth diaper companies, like Nifty Nappy, Cotton Babies, and the maker of Fuzzibunz! So you can support the WAHM’s!

10. The BEST reason is that it is safer, environment friendly, more comfy, and WAY cuter than disposables!

I truly do not think it is harder to use cloth over disposables, having used them both. There is just on extra step.. Wash them.. I can say I love knowing I do not have to go out and buy diapers every pay day! (Might I add, diapers that are not good for my child's bum) It is a great feeling.

I was able to talk with Vilate, the maker of the Nifty Nappy and she shared with me why she starting using and making cloth diapers. “…but in the end. it is as simple as...I started for the cost! We were poor college kids. But it soon became so much more. I kept doing it because I love the fact that it is better for my baby! “ says Vilate.

FIRST GIVEAWAY!! CLOSED

I'm glad you all have found your way over to our blog!

I am going to start off by doing my own giveaway of Dryer Balls. They are the "As Seen On TV" ones. They are supposed to reduce drying time, soften fabrics, help fabrics come out soft and fluff, reduce static and lint buildup, and cut down on wrinkles!

I used them to dry our cloth diapers. I did two loads approximately the same size. The first load I did was with no dryer balls. It took 50 minutes to dry them!

My second load I did had the dryer balls in it. I was SO excited when they were dry in only 27 minutes! That cuts drying time practically in half!! I also noticed that there was no static electricity as there normally is.

Getting to know the fam

Our little family is located in the ever changing state of Oklahoma. We are a conservative christian family. God comes first in every decision we make, then our little lady. She just turned one in June and is our pride and joy!

We are working on becoming as crunchy (green/eco friendly) as we can. We cloth diaper, use all natural cleaning products, and are currently switching to natural (Oklahoma made) bathing products and not using paper plates or silverware!

We just WON our first bottle of soap from Crimson and Clean Soaps and are planning to buy products from them! They are based in Oklahoma and make everything right at their homestead! You can find them and their products at http://www.crimsoncleansoap.com/!!

Our next task is going to be recycling! I will save that for another post though!

If you make your way over to our Facebook page, Mama's Giveaways, you can find giveaways that are eco-friendly and currently happening! The link is on the right side of the blog.

Hope you all have a great day and a great Labor Day weekend!!
